Canadian Club
Persona Volare is a group of twelve Toronto-based artists dedicated to the exploration of non-museum sites, especially those sites that have a special symbolic charge. While their media is diverse - sculpture, photography, painting, video and new media - their single intention is to invade and transform unlikely spaces, in this case the opulent and highly respectable Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris. Two essays and artists' statements, along with many full-colour illustrations, walk us through the group installation. Along the way we are treated to interpretations of the various meanings of the exhibition's title. Persona Volare is indeed a Canadian Club as is the well-known staple of any bar, which leads the artists to describe the exhibition as "spirited, euphoric and stimulating." Participating artists include Carlo Cesta, Lorna Mills, Lisa Neighbour and Johannes Zits. In English and French.

QC: Queer Commodity
Steven Bruhm & Spencer Ramsay
Designed to look like a glossy periodical while mimicking the very idea, this exhibition catalogue presents the work of Dyke Action Machine (New York City), Michael Hickey (St. John's) and Johannes Zits (Toronto). Two essays explore queer art and culture within and outside of the mainstream. The back cover's graphic cleverly subverts classic advertising with lesbian politics.
