Espaces suspendus / Suspended spaces
Sous la direction de Gaëtane Verna (ed)
Suspended Spaces, covering 2001-2002, is the title of the third annual catalogue of exhibitions held at the Art Galleryof Bishop's University. The programming for each year is treated as a sort of five-act epic. Our exhibitions feature different mediums: laboratory equipment, fungal cultures, site-specific installations, sculpture, drawings, colour charts, industrial painting and photography. These five acts change both the physical space of the gallery and the way people see it. Suspended in the fixed volume of the gallery, they transform the space, making it immobile and revealing the formal concerns of the various artists presented. The artists include Sarah Stevenson and Annie Thibault, as well as guest curators Valérie Rousseau and Jean Simard. The authors: Maria Z. Brendel, Rossitza Daskalova, Makiko Hara, Lisanne Nadeau and Valérie Rousseau . In English and French

Sarah Stevenson: Almost Invisible
Michael Tarantino.
Sarah Stevenson's exhibition includes three large-scale sculptures constructed of netting and rods. Although made of everyday materials, these mysterious objects defy categorization and dominate gallery space with a power that contradicts their fragility. In his essay, Tarantino considers the architectural reverberations of her work.
