Vessna Perunovich

Vessna Perunovich: Emblems of the Enigma
Donald Brackett, Pamela Edmonds et al

This original monograph offers a comprehensive overview of the Yugoslav-born Canadian artist’s inter-disciplinary sculpture and installation practice along with a selection of drawings, textile and video work from the past twelve years. Perunovich’s dynamic use of materials, space and composition challanges physical and psychic barriers - whether gendered, cultural or religious - which emblematically serve to both unite and divide. Generously illustrated with numerous full-page plates and bound with a flexicover, this striking publication contains nine essays by critics, curators and fellow artists and accompanies a nationally touring exhibition. Vessna Perunovich's work has been shown internationally at the 8th Havana Biennial in Cuba, Second Tirana Biennial in Albania, XII International Art Biennial of Cerveria in Portugal, IV Ceti nje Biennial in Yugoslavia, and she has exhibited across Canada.
