Cette publication est en lien avec une exposition en deux volets sur la rythmicité ses déploiements, ses variations et ses mouvements conçue par Christof Migone sur une périod de deux ans. Douze artistes y ont participé. La publication documente non seulement ces deux manifestations, mais est animée par la même proposition. Le rythme est au coeur de chacune des interventions des collaborateurs à savoir l'artiste et écrivain Christof Migone, le philosophe André-Louis Paré, le poète Steve Savage et d'autres artistes. This publication is the result of an ambitious experiment with the notions of rythmicity, its deployments, variations and movements. Organized over two years and with the participation of twelve artists the publication not only documents two separate exhibitions but continues the examination. Rhythm is at the center of each contribution by artist and writer Christof Migone, philospher André- Louis Paré, poet Steve Savage and designers FEED, among others. Christof Migone's writings have appeared most notably in the Los Angeles-based Errant Bodies Press. In English and French.

Cette publication réfléchit sur la coupe qui s'effectue de «mille manières» dans l'œuvre et dans son processus de réalisation. Coupures, interruptions, suppressions, arrêts, divisions, résistance, pénétrations, raccords, juxtapositions, re-formulations : un ensemble d'activités rythmiques autour desquelles l'oeuvre se fait et existe, aboutit à un sens ou à un non-sens. 'Cut' évoque autant le « choc » que suggère la coupe que les multiples coupures qui ont lieu dans un processus tel que le montage cinématographique qui résulte en une re-structuration du temps et de l'espace. This publication reflects upon the cut that occurs, in a 'thousand ways', in a work and in its conception. Cuttings, interruptions, suppressions, stops, divisions, resistance, penetrations, links, juxtapositions, reformulations: a set of rhythmic activities around which a work comes to be, achieves sense or non-sense. 'Cut' evokes both the 'shock' that the act of cutting suggests and the multiple cuts that take place in a process such as film editing that results in a re-structuring of time and space. Souhaitant rendre compte de la singularité d'une pratique pluridisciplinaire amorcée au milieu des années 1980, on pourra y découvrir plusieurs œuvres nouvelles éclairées sous l'angle rétrospectif. Cette publication largement illustrée comporte un essai de Nicole Gingras, ainsi que de courts textes de l'artiste.
An exciting first overview of the career of a leading sound artist. Christof Migone explores sound, the body and their interrelations through radio, video, sound recording, performance and installation. Since the early 1990s, he has participated in numerous sound art and radiophonic events and has produced six solo CD's. This fully bilingual publication takes a retrospective look at this multi-faceted practice through twenty-two works, many presented here for the first time. The sub-title 'trou' or 'hole' highlights Mignone's ability to find uncanny ways for a microphone to capture sound. The accompanying DVD contains five works that reveal the interactivity of sound. Christof Migone divides his time between Montreal - where he is visiting curator at Concordia University's Ellen Gallery - and New York City - where he is pursuing a doctorate at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. His writings have appeared most notably in the Los Angeles-based Errant Bodies Press. In English and French.
