Au début des années 80, Lyne Lapointe s'impose comme l'une des jeunes artistes les plus prometteuses de sa génération. Puis c'est l'importante rencontre avec Martha Fleming avec qui, entre 1982 et 1995, se développe l'un des projets artistiques les plus remarquables à ce jour. Depuis, Lapointe renoue avec la pratique individuelle qui avait marqué ses débuts.La publication regroupe les œuvres récentes où dominent le dessin, le collage et la peinture. Le travail de l'artiste oscille entre les arts et les sciences, réactualisant un humanisme tel qu'on l'entendait à la Renaissance c'est-à-dire dans le sens de l'éclatement des disciplines. En français et anglais. Steve Baker est professeur en culture visuelle contemporaine à l'Université du Central Lancashire au Royaume-Uni. Christine Ross est directrice du Département d'histoire de l'art de l'Université McGill.
The 1980s gave rise to a generation of artists who ignored the boundaries of discipline and place, creating works that were difficult to define and difficult to miss. Lyne Lapointe was one of the most remarkable. Her meeting with Martha Fleming produced a collaboration striking in both innovation and longevity and between 1982 and 1995 the duo created on-site urban installations around the world.With la Tache aveugle (Blind Spot) Lapointe resurfaces with a new body of work. In a burst of interdisciplinary activity, she hearkens back to Renaissance ideals with drawings, paintings and collage that reveal a universe oscillating between art and science.
