Son travail a fait partie de l’exposition Chauffe, Marcel ! au Frac Languedoc-Roussillon, qui organise, à l’été 2008, La Dégelée Rabelais, qui présente les plus récents travaux de l’artiste. This first monograph devoted the Montreal-based artist covers an eight year cycle during which Benoit created an extraordinary diverse œuvre around one central theme, that of the Fat Man. This one thematic is explored through video, installation, painting and particularly sculpture. Essays look at Benoit’s practice especially as it distinguishes itself from work of other artists concerned with hyper-realistic representation, such as Ron Mueck. Alain Benoit has exhibited throught Canada and France and this publication is produced in collaboration with two French contemporary art centres, FRAC Languedoc-Roussillon and Le Creux de l’enfer.
