L'évènement de type triennal en est à sa deuxième édition, succédant à celle qui s'est tenue en 2001 sur le canal de Lachine. Artefact 2004 &endash; sculptures urbaines regroupe treize artistes (incluant Monique Bertrand, Lucie Duval, Raymond Gervais, Michel Goulet, Daniel Olson, Alan Storey et Louise Viger) dont les œuvres sont installées aux abords du chemin Olmsted, entre le Centre de la montagne &emdash; près du symposium de 1964 &emdash; et le grand chalet du belvédère.
Publication of a triennial exhibition devoted to ephemeral public art. Montreal's Mont Royal mountain, and specifically the Olmsted Path which crosses it, were chosen for their significant features, rich histories and public affection. Participating artists include Monique Bertrand, Raymond Gervais, Michel Goulet, Daniel Olson, Alan Storey and Louise Viger. An essay is accompanied by texts on each individual work as well as an introduction to the ongoing event. In English and French.

Of all the inventions of Alan Storey, his drawing machines are the ones which constitute the central cortex of a multiform production where each project has the look of a laboratory project since it is only outside the studio, in the exhibition space, that the work creates itself. A critical essay accompanies a detailed presentation by the artist of the "construction" of his young but already massive oeuvre.
De toutes les inventions d'Alan Storey, les machines à dessiner constituent le centre nerveux d'une production multiforme où chaque projet a l'allure d'une expérience de laboratoire car le lieu où l'oeuvre se rend visible est la salle d'exposition même. Un texte critique accompagne une présentation détaillée de la "construction" de cet oeuvre jeune et déjà monumentale.
